About the CD14

The Rotel CD14 is a dedicated compact disc player engineered with a carefully designed power supply providing separate, ripple-free voltage to digital and analog circuits. It supports playback of standard audio CDs, CD-Rs, CD-RWs, and MP3 files burned on CDs. Key features include a smooth tray-loading CD mechanism, disc metadata display, coaxial digital and analog RCA outputs, RS-232 interface, 12-volt trigger, and detachable IEC power cord. The player uses a Wolfson premium 24-bit/192kHz DAC (original model), with later MKII versions upgrading to Texas Instruments 32-bit/384kHz DAC. It offers intuitive operation via front panel, IR remote, and iOS app (with A14 connection). Recent software updates as of 2024 address power consumption, bug fixes, and mechanism longevity. Note: MKII variant exists with enhanced DAC and tuning; original model still referenced on Rotel site.
