About the Volterra
The Rosso Fiorentino Volterra is a 2.5-way floorstanding loudspeaker that embodies the brand's heritage and distinctive Italian design. It features a modular enclosure made from mechanically different materials to reduce resonant vibrations, resulting in a cabinet that is extremely still and firm. The speaker uses a hybrid vented/closed box system with a 6.5-inch vented mid-woofer and an 8-inch closed box woofer, both with Nomex diaphragms, delivering extended and controlled frequency response and a captivating soundstage rich in detail and dynamics. The high-frequency section combines a 28mm hand-treated silk dome neodymium tweeter with a ribbon ultrasonic generator that operates from around 30 kHz up to 100 kHz, enhancing the naturalness and three-dimensional quality of the sound. The crossover is complex and uses meticulously selected components housed in an isolated, well-damped box. Sensitivity is 88 dB SPL, nominal impedance is 6 ohms (minimum 4 ohms), and the frequency response ranges from 38 Hz to 100 kHz (-3 dB). Recommended amplifier power is 70 to 200 watts into 8 ohms with unclipped signal. The Volterra is praised for its natural, warm, and transparent sound with excellent timbre and texture, making it ideal for music lovers seeking organic and detailed reproduction rather than high SPL or heavy bass impact. It is not designed for rock or heavy bass genres but excels in classical, jazz, and vocal music reproduction.
