The Rogue Sixty-Six is an all-tube preamplifier designed and manufactured in the USA by Rogue Audio, featuring a sophisticated chassis with machined aluminum faceplate and knobs. It includes a separate power supply chassis to isolate transformer and low-voltage AC duties from the signal path. The preamp offers five input selections (CD, phono, tuner, aux 1, aux 2) and can be configured either with a vacuum-tube phono section or with remote volume control. Key design features include an auto-mute function to limit dangerous transients at turn-on, a slow start feature to prolong tube life, and a record button to isolate tape equipment when not recording. The unit employs premium components throughout, including gold-plated RCA inputs, polypropylene capacitors in the signal path, 1% metal-film resistors, ceramic tube sockets, and a heavy 2-ounce copper circuit board. The Magnum version offers enhanced specifications with larger power supplies, Harmonic Technologies silver internal wiring, gold tube sockets, upgraded tubes, and premium capacitors with bypass configurations.
