The Metis Super Magnum is a pure vacuum tube preamplifier entirely hand-built in the USA to exacting standards. It uses two 6SN7 triode tubes to produce a warm, rich, and neutrally balanced sound signature. The preamplifier includes a solid-state moving magnet (MM) phono stage and a discrete headphone amplifier. It offers four inputs (phono, line 1, 2, and 3), one pair of fixed outputs, and one pair of variable outputs. The unit features a heavy aluminum faceplate with a removable tube cage, blue LED lighting, and an Alps volume control with a solid aluminum remote control. The power supply is a massive high-storage linear design, and the circuit board is a heavy 2-ounce copper type. The Metis Super Magnum provides a bandwidth of 20Hz to 30kHz, 12 dB gain on the line stage, and ultra-accurate 38 dB gain on the phono stage. It includes slow start turn-on sequencing to protect the tubes. The preamplifier is noted for its outstanding performance, low noise floor, excellent soundstaging, clear midrange, and sweet top end. It has won multiple industry awards including The Absolute Sound's Budget Component of the Year and Hi-Fi + Product of the Year. The chassis measures 18" W x 12.5" D x 4.5" H and weighs 16 lbs (22 lbs shipping). It operates on 120V or 230V at 50/60Hz. The Metis Super Magnum is available in black or silver faceplate finishes.
