The Rogue Audio Ares Magnum is a serious upgrade of the original Ares phono preamplifier, designed for vinyl enthusiasts seeking the best sound quality. It features pure tube circuit topology with precise RIAA equalization and is compatible with almost all low, medium, and high output MC and MM cartridges. The Magnum version adds 10dB additional gain for very low output cartridges, improves inner detail, and enhances accuracy. Upgrades include Cinemag "blue label" step-up transformers, PRP resistors in critical signal path locations, premium Mundorf Supreme inter-stage coupling capacitors, Cardas internal wiring, and upgraded Cardas RCA jacks. It has three gain settings (40dB, 55dB, 64dB), internal loading options including 0 or 150pF capacitance, and a massive fully regulated outboard power supply with a toroidal transformer to minimize noise. The unit is built with precision components, heavy copper circuit boards, and a machined aluminum faceplate, entirely designed and hand-built in the USA with a 3-year limited warranty (six months on tubes).
