The Rogue Audio Ares is a high-performance tube phono preamplifier designed for low, medium, and high output moving coil (MC) and moving magnet (MM) cartridges. It features pure tube circuit topology with two 12AX7 and two 12AU7 tubes, which can be replaced for additional gain if needed. The unit offers precise RIAA equalization with +/- 0.1 dB accuracy from 20 Hz to 20 kHz, and includes custom Cinemag step-up transformers for MC cartridges. It has a massive, fully regulated outboard power supply with a toroidal transformer to minimize noise and interference. The Ares provides multiple gain settings (40dB, 55dB, 60dB, 64dB) and extensive loading options for impedance and capacitance to accommodate a wide range of cartridges. Additional features include a timer delayed start to reduce turn-on noise, subsonic filtering, ultra heavy-duty gold RCA inputs, machined aluminum faceplate, heavy two-ounce copper circuit boards, and Teflon/silver plated wiring. The unit measures 17" W x 9" D x 5.5" H and weighs approximately 21 lbs. It is entirely designed and hand-built in the USA and comes with a 3-year limited warranty (six months on tubes).
