About the Syzygy
The Syzygy loudspeaker, introduced in 1994, was the second model released by Rockport Technologies and designed as a smaller, simpler alternative to the Procyon. It is a passive three-way speaker utilizing Eton drivers for bass and midrange frequencies and the highly regarded Dynaudio D260 tweeter for high frequencies. The enclosure is constructed from a glass fiber and epoxy composite sandwich with large chamfers and varying baffle dimensions to reduce diffraction effects. Despite its modest size, the Syzygy offers nearly full-range sound reproduction. The design and materials used in the Syzygy's cabinet were precursors to the advanced composite enclosures used in later Rockport loudspeakers. The speaker is noted for its excellent build quality and sound performance, maintaining a strong reputation among audiophiles.
