About the Antares
The Rockport Technologies Antares is a three-way, floorstanding dynamic loudspeaker introduced in 1999 as a larger, full-range follow-up to the Merak model. It features a 1" ferrofluid-cooled Dynaudio Esotar silk-dome tweeter, a 6" Audiotechnology cone midrange driver, and a 13" Audiotechnology cone woofer. The crossover frequencies are set at 130Hz and 2.1kHz. The cabinet is constructed with a massive glass fiber/epoxy sandwich composite, providing exceptional rigidity and low resonance, which contributes to its dynamic performance and sound clarity. Each speaker weighs approximately 400 lbs and measures 47" high by 16.75" wide by 28" deep. The Antares has a nominal impedance of 4 ohms, sensitivity of 89 dB/W/m, and requires a minimum power handling of 50 watts.
