The Revox PR-99 MK 3 is a semi-professional reel-to-reel tape recorder manufactured in Switzerland between 1989 and 1998. It features a 3-motor drive system with two AC-winding motors and one AC-capstan motor, all servo-controlled for precise tape handling. The unit supports 2-channel stereo or mono full track recording with tape speeds selectable typically at 9.5 cm/s, 19 cm/s, and 38 cm/s, with a tolerance of ±0.2%. It offers excellent frequency response up to 22 kHz at 38 cm/s and low pitch variation (wow and flutter) below 0.1%. The PR-99 MK 3 includes balanced XLR inputs and outputs, making it suitable for professional studio integration, and features such as full locator, fader start, remote control, and timer operation. The machine is known for its reliability, smooth tape handling, and high fidelity sound quality, making it ideal for mastering, archival work, and analog production.
