The Revox PR 99 MK II is a semi-professional reel-to-reel tape recorder manufactured in Switzerland between 1987 and 1989. It features a 3-motor drive system with two AC-winding motors and one servo-controlled AC-capstan motor, supporting 2-channel stereo or mono full track recording. Tape speeds include 9.5 cm/s, 19 cm/s, and 38 cm/s with a tolerance of ±0.2%. It offers excellent pitch stability with pitch variation below 0.1% at 9.5 cm/s and below 0.06% at 38 cm/s. Frequency response ranges from 30 Hz to 22 kHz depending on tape speed, with signal-to-noise ratios above 63 dB. The unit supports up to 10.5 inch (26.5 cm) reel size and includes features such as a built-in varispeed control (-33% to +50%), electronic speed changeover, integrated control logic with tape motion sensor, contactless motor switching, and a real-time digital tape counter with zero locator. It has balanced XLR and consumer RCA inputs/outputs, adjustable repro EQ, and a tape splicing block.
