The REL S5 SHO (Super High Output) subwoofer represents the pinnacle of mid-level sub bass systems, combining innovative engineering to deliver near reference-quality sound. It features a 12-inch long-throw Continuous Cast Alloy cone active driver and a 12-inch carbon/carbon passive radiator, which together produce exceptionally low bass with tremendous impact, speed, and slam. The passive radiator design allows the subwoofer to behave like a variable ratio driver size, starting as a sealed 12-inch design and morphing into the power and output of a 15-inch design as more power is demanded. The S5 SHO is powered by a NextGen2 550W digital amplifier that provides fast, extended lows with about 8 milliseconds group delay, ensuring seamless blending with main speakers. It includes high-level Neutrik Speakon, low-level stereo RCA, LFE RCA inputs, and optional wireless capability via REL's Longbow transmitter. The cabinet is finished in high-quality piano black or white lacquer with eight coats for durability and aesthetics. The subwoofer is suitable for medium to large rooms and pairs well with high-end 2-channel systems and grand theaters, delivering visceral attack and slam with smooth speed.
