The Rega RB700 is a hand-made tonearm fitted as standard on Rega's P5 and P7 turntables and available for separate purchase. It represents a significant advancement in tonearm design, featuring a precision-engineered aluminum tube with a specially developed unique coating that maintains low mass while providing exceptional rigidity. The tonearm assembly is built around hardened stainless steel components and miniature ball races of the highest quality. The bearings are fitted onto ground shafts using interference fits without adhesive, eliminating component-adhesive-component losses in rigidity. The RB700 mounts via a three-point fixing machined from a single solid block of stainless steel, providing the strongest and most rigid base structure possible while minimizing resonance. The tonearm is designed to maximize cantilever acceleration and travel with utmost accuracy, extracting new levels of information from vinyl recordings. It features a spring-actuated downforce mechanism and a refined sliding-magnet antiskating system for more consistent and precise bias adjustment.
