About the ND9

The Rega Nd9 represents Rega's most advanced moving magnet cartridge, hand-built in the UK with technology derived from their high-end Aphelion 2 moving-coil cartridge. It employs a boron rod cantilever for ultra-fast response and rigidity, paired with a fine-line nude diamond stylus (3µm top radius, 30µm front) for precise groove tracking and maximum detail retrieval. The generator features a powerful Neodymium N55 magnet, optimized pole gap for low crosstalk and wide soundstage, and miniaturized parallel coils (38-micron wire, 1275 turns) for low inductance/impedance and extended high-frequency response. Housed in a lightweight, rigid glass-filled PPS body, it uses Rega's 3-point mounting system (Rega tonearms only) to minimize tonearm stress. Available factory-fitted on Planar 8 (and other models like Planar 3 RS, Planar 6). Provides reference MM performance with easy compatibility for MM phono stages, delivering open, dynamic sound with tight bass, textured mids, and airy highs.
