The Rega Nd5 moving magnet cartridge, developed over 10 years, represents a breakthrough in MM technology with an ultra-high powered Neodymium N55 magnet enabling unique generator geometry for superior channel balance, linearity, and crosstalk. Handmade by Rega technicians, it uses miniaturized parallel coils wound in-house with 38-micron wire and only 1275 turns for low inductance, low impedance, and vastly improved high-frequency response. The cartridge features an aluminum cantilever with perfect elliptical nude diamond stylus for exceptional tracking accuracy and detail retrieval. Its lightweight, rigid glass-filled polyphenylene sulfide (PPS) body minimizes resonances and tonearm stress. Designed for easy 3-point mounting, it offers a wider soundstage and is available as a factory-fitted option on Planar 3 and Planar 6 turntables. Rega provides a rebuild scheme for sustainability.
