About the Mercury

The Rega Mercury is a handcrafted reference pre-amplifier designed to reveal the true potential of hi-fi systems through an ultra-low noise floor and exceptional dynamic range. Culminating nearly four decades of Rega engineering, it features fully discrete symmetrical circuitry in the core signal path, a high-performance DAC with Wolfson WM8742 chips, galvanically isolated asynchronous USB input, discrete headphone amplifier, full colour IPS display, and custom Orbit remote. The signal path uses a discrete, differentially driven, high-linearity common base voltage amplifier with complementary Class A output stages and Linear Systems ultra-low noise FET transistors in critical stages. Volume control employs the Alps Blue Velvet RK27 paired with symmetrical drivers, with DC-coupled main outputs. Power supply is a discrete symmetrical tracking design with toroidal transformer, 60% higher voltage for headroom, fast diodes, low-noise references, and localized capacitance. Balanced inputs/outputs add high-performance circuitry but Rega recommends unbalanced for optimal sound. No phono stage included. Currently manufactured with lifetime warranty.
