About the P7

The Rega P7 is an unsprung, 2-speed belt-drive turntable equipped with a 24V AC synchronous motor and a ceramic platter with Michell-style underslung weights for enhanced speed stability. It features the RB700 tonearm, which includes a tungsten counterweight, a special coating on the arm tube, and a refined bias mechanism for precise antiskating. The plinth and platter bearing design are inspired by the flagship P9 model, with a single-point bearing and a machined aluminum subplatter. The chassis is particle board with metal trim to dampen resonances. The P7 offers electronic speed switching and comes with an external power supply for improved motor control. It is praised for its clean design, good kick and impact, detailed sound, and refined tonal balance, although some note the high treble is not always as open as some competitors. Dimensions are approximately 450mm wide, 105mm high, and 370mm deep, with a weight of about 7kg. The P7 is considered a step up from the P5, with a higher price reflecting its advanced features and build quality.
