About the EAR
The Rega EAR headphone amplifier is developed by Rega engineers and features a completely new surface mount PCB layout derived from the successful Brio-R amplifier. It delivers exceptional performance with independent mute and volume controls and multiple connectivity options for seamless integration into any audio system. The amplifier operates in Class A at normal listening levels and uses a low noise, fully regulated power supply with an external mains transformer to minimize noise. It employs high-quality components including a cascaded emitter follower output stage with complementary Darlington output transistors and premium polyester film and Nichicon FG capacitors for superior sonic performance. The EAR is housed in a compact, custom extruded aluminium case with a high gloss front fascia designed to match other Rega electronics. It connects via phono leads to the tape output of an amplifier and includes a link socket for additional tape output use. The amplifier is suitable for studio and hi-fi use, offering a warm tonal character that enhances even lower quality sources. It has been highly commended by Hi-Fi News for its build quality, sound, and features.
