About the 2A
The Reed 2A tonearm is designed for customers with fixed audio setups who seek perfect sound quality. It delivers the same sound quality as the Reed 3Q model but with fewer adjustment possibilities. The tonearm base consists of a massive stand and a moving part made of solid metal, providing rigidity and stability. Height (VTA) adjustment range is 20 mm with a tolerance of ±0.1 mm. Bearings use carbide tungsten points and a sapphire thrust pad, resulting in very low friction and minimal noise transmission. The lever antiskating mechanism is supported by ruby olive bombe bearings, providing a dynamic and constant antiskating force with minimal friction. The tonearm is statically balanced, with the counterweight positioned at the same horizontal level as the needle tip to minimize swinging. Downforce range is from 10 mN to 30 mN. The armtubes are made exclusively from carefully selected and processed wood, which has been found to provide the best acoustic properties and significantly affects the tonearm's effective mass.
