About the AC 23S Active Crossover
The Rane AC 23S Active Crossover can be configured as a stereo 2- or 3-way, or a mono 4- or 5-way crossover. It employs 4th-order Linkwitz-Riley filter alignments to minimize phase difficulties in the critical crossover region. The crossover uses two cascaded 2nd-order Butterworth filters with identical phase characteristics on low-pass and high-pass outputs, ensuring in-phase outputs at all frequencies for proper acoustic summing of adjacent drivers. It features steep 24 dB per octave rolloff slopes to prevent drivers from being driven beyond their frequency range, minimizing distortion and fatigue. Adjustable delay circuits on the low and mid outputs compensate for physical misalignment of drivers, maintaining mechanical and electrical phase alignment. The AC 23S includes active balanced XLR inputs and outputs, input and output level controls, infrasonic, ultrasonic, and RFI filters, and options for mono sub output and constant directivity horn equalization via internal modification. It has a built-in universal power supply (100-240 VAC) and is UL and cUL listed.
