About the Z2

The Quad Z-2 is the larger flagship bookshelf speaker in Quad's Z Series, a passive 2-way bass-reflex standmount design featuring Quad's True Ribbon tweeter (12 x 90mm) in a composite sandwich ribbon diaphragm for high sensitivity, wide bandwidth, and low distortion with wide horizontal but controlled vertical dispersion for better focus and reduced floor/ceiling interaction. It is matched to a 175mm (6.9") woven Kevlar mid/bass driver with a double-roll surround, housed in a curved rear-ported cabinet that uses an acoustic filter-style bass-reflex system to improve bass extension and efficiency while minimizing port noise. The one-piece curved MDF cabinet suppresses internal standing waves and is finished in high-gloss piano lacquer in black, white, or rosewood, with a magnetically attached grille and included self-adhesive rubber feet for stand or shelf placement. Dual binding posts support bi-wiring/bi-amping. Quad specifies an 8-ohm nominal impedance, 84dB sensitivity, 50–20,000 Hz frequency response, and 30–120W recommended amplifier power. Supplied with a 5-year parts and labour warranty.
