The Quad QC-24 (QC Twenty Four) is a compact valve line-level stereo preamplifier using a radically simple audio circuit and relay input switching to preserve signal purity in line with Peter Walker's 'straight wire with gain' philosophy. It employs a single new-old-stock 6111/6111WA twin triode valve, hard-wired for long-term reliability, and uses high-grade transformers designed by leading specialists. Connectivity comprises 5 line-level inputs (CD, Tuner, Aux 1, Aux 2, and one input often labeled Phono but line-level only), 2 buffered tape loops (play/record), and 2 main outputs, with an optional plug-in MM/MC phono module available on certain versions. The styling follows the classic Quad aesthetic and is intended to partner Quad's classic valve power amplifiers such as the Quad II Forty and II Eighty, offering a neutral, smooth, full-bodied presentation without tone controls or remote facilities.
