About the QC24

The Quad QC-24 is a valve preamplifier that combines classic design with modern engineering, ideal for analogue music enthusiasts. It uses a single 6111WA twin triode valve hard-wired to the circuit board, known for its reliability and long lifespan (up to 60,000 hours). The preamp features five line-level inputs, two buffered tape loops, and relay input switching to preserve signal purity. It includes a rear MM/MC toggle switch for phono cartridge compatibility and offers both full and variable level outputs for direct connection to power amplifiers. The frequency response is 5Hz to 50kHz with a total harmonic distortion of less than 0.2% at 1 VRMS. It has a line stage gain of 15dB, recommended minimum load of 50k ohms, and hum and noise better than -80dB. The QC-24 is compact, measuring 90mm high, 220mm wide, and 300mm deep, with a power consumption of 15VA maximum. Designed by Quad founder Peter Walker, it maintains the classic Quad sound with a warm, full-bodied balance and is built to last a lifetime with proper care and servicing.
