The Quad 99 CDP-2 is a versatile and high-quality CD player designed to integrate seamlessly into the Quad 99 series system. It features a 24-bit Crystal DAC with 2x upsampling and supports a maximum sampling frequency of 192kHz. The player accepts six digital inputs (three RCA coaxial and three Toslink optical), allowing connection of multiple digital sources. It offers both fixed and variable analog outputs, enabling use as a standalone CD player or as a preamplifier with volume control. The QuadLink balanced output provides a maximum output level of 5.3V RMS, while the RCA outputs provide 2.4V RMS. The frequency response is 20Hz to 20kHz with minimal distortion (<0.002% THD at 1kHz) and excellent signal-to-noise ratio (>110dB at 24-bit). The player supports CD, CD-R, and CD-RW discs and includes proprietary filtering and a Philips three-laser transport for enhanced performance. Dimensions are approximately 321mm (W) x 80mm (H) x 310mm (D), and it weighs about 7.2 kg.
