About the The Vinyl
The Vinyl by QHW Audio is a discrete MM/MC external phono preamplifier designed and built in Madrid, Spain. It features a discrete MC head input with bipolar junction transistor (BJT) for very low noise, and a discrete MM input using the proprietary AE2270 amplifier. The preamp offers selectable load settings to fit various cartridge types and preferences, including adjustable input capacitance for MM cartridges and adjustable input impedance for MC cartridges. It supports two independent inputs for MM and MC cartridges, allowing connection of two turntables simultaneously. The device is built with high precision components such as 0.1% tolerance thin film resistors for accurate RIAA equalization. It delivers very low total harmonic distortion (as low as 0.001% at 1kHz), high signal-to-noise ratio, and a maximum output level of 9 V RMS or more. The Vinyl is powered by an external 36 V DC power supply with universal AC input (100-240 V, 50-60 Hz) and consumes less than 10 W. Its compact chassis measures 243 mm x 218 mm x 89 mm and weighs 2 kg. The unit is highly regarded for its detailed sound presentation, excellent build quality, and flexibility for audiophile use.
