The Q Acoustics Concept 40 floorstanding loudspeakers build upon the success of the Concept 20 model, offering enhanced bass extension and sensitivity through two 125mm bass/mid drivers and a 25mm soft dome tweeter. They utilize Gelcore™ cabinet technology, where two layers of MDF are separated by a resonance-absorbing adhesive that converts kinetic energy into heat, significantly reducing cabinet resonance and distortion. The speakers feature a 2-way reflex design with a rear bass reflex port tuned to extend low-frequency response down to 53Hz. The tweeter is vibrationally isolated from the front baffle to minimize distortion. With a nominal impedance of 8 ohms and sensitivity of 90dB, they are easily driven by quality amplifiers rated between 25 and 150 watts. The cabinet is finished in multi-layered lacquered black or white gloss with an attractive brushed aluminum fascia plate that clamps a butyl rubber sheet to further reduce resonance. The speakers stand 972mm tall (excluding the glass floor outrigger stand), weigh 18.5kg each, and include accessories such as speaker grills, glass floor outrigger stands, screws, and floor spikes. The Concept 40 delivers an expansive soundstage, excellent dynamics, and superb bass performance, making it suitable for music and home theater applications. This model has been discontinued but remains highly regarded for its sonic agility and composure.
