About the Active 200

The Q Active 200 is a fully active wireless stereo speaker system designed by Q Acoustics. Each speaker contains two 2.25-inch Balanced Mode Radiator (BMR) drivers on the front for wide soundstage and excellent stereo imaging, and a rear-firing 4.5-inch long-throw subwoofer in a ported cabinet with internal bracing and a waveguide for tight, smooth bass. Each driver is powered by its own dedicated amplifier (two 20W class-D amps for the BMRs and one 55W class-D amp for the woofer), totaling 100 watts RMS per speaker and 280 watts peak output. The system includes a wireless control hub that distributes audio signals via a 5.8 GHz wireless link, supports Apple AirPlay 2, Spotify Connect, Roon, UPnP, and voice control via Google Assistant and Siri. The hub accepts multiple inputs including HDMI ARC (2 channel PCM up to 16-bit/96kHz), optical, analog, and Bluetooth 4.1. DSP inside each speaker allows adjustment of sound based on speaker placement (open space, against a wall, or corner) and channel assignment (left or right). The frequency response is 46 Hz to 20 kHz (-6 dB). The speakers measure approximately 11.2" H x 6.7" W x 11.4" D and weigh about 16.5 lbs each. The system supports high-resolution audio playback up to 32-bit/192kHz, downsampled to 24-bit/96kHz for wireless transmission. Foam port plugs are included to further tailor bass response. The design features asymmetric driver positioning to reduce diffraction and interference, eliminating the need to toe-in speakers for optimal soundstage.
