About the Trio15 Horn1
The PureAudioProject Trio15 Horn1 is a two-way open baffle floor-standing speaker designed with a D'Appolito configuration, featuring two 15-inch Eminence OB-A15neo woofers custom-made to PAP specifications and a 1.4-inch polymer dome compression driver mounted on a handcrafted wooden horn (42x17 cm). This design achieves a natural, dynamic, and fast sound with clarity and resolution typical of horn speakers but without the usual horn harshness. The horn's frequency response extends down to about 550 Hz, crossing over with the woofers around 500 Hz using a first-order Mundorf crossover. The horn efficiency can be adjusted easily via selectable resistors without soldering. Sensitivity ranges from 94 to 96 dB in typical domestic environments, with an 8-ohm impedance and frequency response from approximately 29-32 Hz to 19 kHz. The speaker's open baffle design provides a large, open soundstage with depth and a lifelike presentation reminiscent of planar speakers but with the dynamics of traditional horns. The Trio15 Horn1 is highly regarded for its ability to reproduce all music genres with engaging realism and is considered the top model in the Trio15 series, priced at about 4,290 euros in the EU. It is available in finishes including German oak, natural bamboo, or lacquered surfaces, and each speaker weighs about 37 kg with dimensions of 54x116x27 cm (WxHxD). The speakers are sold directly through PureAudioProject's website.
