The PS Audio PerfectWave SACD, officially named the PerfectWave SACD Transport (PST), is a high-end universal optical-disc transport rather than a conventional integrated SACD player: it has no internal analog audio outputs or DAC. It plays the DSD layer of SACDs and sends raw DSD to compatible PS Audio DACs through its I2S output. It also supports CD, recordable CD, audio-data DVD media, USB audio files, PCM, DoP, and selected high-resolution formats. Its design includes PS Audio Digital Lens technology, a galvanically isolated output stage, a substantial linear power supply, and Ethernet/Wi-Fi connectivity for firmware updates. PS Audio forum information indicates that the transport mechanism used in the PST was discontinued by its supplier and PS Audio would not build new units after its remaining supply was exhausted; it may therefore be encountered primarily as used, refurbished, or remaining stock.
