The PS Audio PCA-2 is a high-quality solid-state preamplifier designed for audiophiles seeking flexibility and excellent sound quality. It features remote control and numerous adjustment options including input matching, output range adjustment, and volume control modes. The PCA-2 provides a smooth, liquid sound with very nice detail and soundstage presentation. It includes 1 XLR and 6 RCA inputs, and offers selectable volume display modes and volume-on thresholds to protect speakers and amplifiers. The unit is known for its clean, crystal-clear sound without fatigue and a killer headphone section. Although discontinued, it remains a substantial bargain for its sound quality and flexibility. Some noted drawbacks include the inability to hold settings when unplugged and a somewhat cheap remote control. An optional power supply is available to enhance performance further.
