The PS Audio NuWave Phono Converter is a sophisticated device that integrates a high-quality analog phono preamplifier with a state-of-the-art analog-to-digital converter (ADC). It supports inputs from moving coil and moving magnet cartridges with a gain range from 0.2mV to 220mV, accommodating a wide variety of cartridges with very low noise and hum. The analog section features a differential low-noise input stage, passive RIAA equalization, and a discrete Class A FET output stage. The digital section can convert analog signals to PCM up to 24-bit/192kHz and DSD at 2.8MHz or 5.6MHz (DSD 64, DSD 128). Outputs include balanced XLR and RCA analog outputs, as well as digital outputs via coaxial S/PDIF, asynchronous USB, and I2S over HDMI, designed for high-resolution jitter-free connections to compatible DACs. The unit also features a large power supply and separates analog and digital paths internally to preserve signal integrity. It has an OLED display with intuitive controls for mode selection and settings. Dimensions are 14" x 8.3" x 2.4" and it weighs 14 lbs. This device can function purely as a phono preamp or as a converter for digitizing analog sources like records and tapes.
