About the Lab
The PS Audio Lab Cable was developed to provide a sonically neutral power cable for reference audio systems, particularly for use with PS Audio's Power Plant regenerators. It uses 6-gauge, 1057-strand copper wire for each conductor, ensuring very low resistance and impedance. The cable features triple shielding: aluminum foil around each jacketed conductor, a copper braid over the foil, and a single braid over both shielded conductors, all wrapped in Sonex material to mechanically isolate the cable from vibrations. This construction results in a stiff but manageable cable that significantly lowers noise floor, improves bass definition, and enhances overall transparency in audio playback. The male plug is hospital-grade Marinco, and the female connector is a Kimber Kable Wattgate IEC. The Lab Cable is noted for its exceptional sonic neutrality and is A Mini Lab Cable variant with 10-gauge wire and fewer strands is also available at a lower price point.
