The PS Audio DirectStream Memory Player (DMP) is a reference-level solid-state universal disc player and transport designed for audiophile-grade performance. It features advanced Digital Lens technology that uses buffer memory and FPGA-based processing to minimize jitter, noise, and timing errors, delivering superior sound from CDs, SACDs, and other formats. Based on an Oppo Blu-ray transport mechanism with custom PS Audio circuitry excluding video components to reduce noise, the DMP excels in clarity, timing, and musicality, particularly when paired with PS Audio DirectStream DACs via I2S for direct DSD extraction from SACD's protected layer using a proprietary handshake protocol. It supports a wide range of disc types and file formats, USB input for digital media, Ethernet for metadata and cover art, and a full-color LCD touchscreen. Though no longer manufactured due to the discontinuation of the Oppo drive, it remains highly regarded for making digital playback sound organic and lifelike.
