The PS Audio BHK Signature Preamplifier represents the culmination of Bascom H. King's extensive experience designing audio equipment for industry leaders including Infinity, Marantz, Conrad Johnson, and Constellation. This hybrid preamplifier combines a zero-loss vacuum tube input stage using Psvane 12AU7 TII tubes with a coupled and balanced MOSFET output stage, all constructed with through-hole components on dual-layer fiberglass boards. The fully balanced circuit design uses only N-channel MOSFETs in the output stage to achieve lower distortion than complementary designs. The preamp features five identical balanced XLR and single-ended RCA inputs, allowing flexible source connectivity, with all signals converted to balanced for optimal performance. A standby button controls the vacuum tube input stage for extended tube life. The design includes a custom-designed MOSFET headphone amplifier and remote control for convenient operation. The BHK Signature Preamplifier is part of PS Audio's acclaimed BHK Signature line introduced in 2015, representing the pinnacle of the company's preamplifier design philosophy.
