About the HPA-2
The Proceed HPA-2 is a dual monaural stereo power amplifier introduced in 1998, delivering 250 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 500 watts per channel into 4 ohms. It features a Class A/B design with a frequency response of 20Hz to 20kHz and a total harmonic distortion of 0.1%. Each audio channel has its own dedicated power supply with a separate 663 VA toroidal transformer, reducing crosstalk and improving imaging and acoustic space reproduction. The amplifier supports both balanced and single-ended inputs, automatically adjusting gain structure for compatibility and noise immunity. The output stage uses twelve 150 watt power transistors per channel, matched and tested for reliability and longevity. It has a gain of 23 dB, input sensitivity of 1.586V, signal-to-noise ratio of 80 dB, and supports speaker loads down to 4 ohms. The amplifier measures 438.4 x 166 x 496.6 mm and weighs 43 kg. It is well-suited for high-end home theater or stereo setups, often paired with the Proceed AVP2 or PAV Processor/Preamp and the HPA3 three-channel amplifier for multi-channel configurations.
