The ProAc Response D2R is a standmount loudspeaker that represents a significant evolution of ProAc's Response range, which has been a cornerstone of the brand for over 30 years. Introduced in 2019, the D2R distinguishes itself through the integration of a 2.75" ProAc ribbon tweeter—the 'R' in its designation—replacing the earlier silk dome design. The speaker maintains the proven 6.5" SEAS/ProAc midrange/woofer with glass-fiber cone, rubber surround, copper phase plug, and Excel ceramic ring-magnet system. The cabinet employs marine ply construction with heavy damping and HDF front/back panels following BBC design principles, incorporating a front-facing reflex port that allows flexible room placement. The D2R is renowned for its exceptional midrange resolution, transparent sound character, and seamless driver integration. It delivers a large-scale soundstage with precise stereo imaging, taut and authoritative bass for its compact size, and airy, detailed treble without harshness. The speaker works well with both tube and solid-state amplification and is considered one of the finest compact monitors available, offering performance comparable to speakers costing significantly more.
