The ProAc Response 2.5 is a two-way, reflex-loaded, floorstanding loudspeaker from ProAc's Response series, designed by Stuart Tyler and introduced around 1996 as a mid-priced tower in the line. It uses a 3/4" Scan-Speak fabric-dome tweeter and a 7" carbon-fiber-impregnated paper-cone midrange/woofer built by Scan-Speak to ProAc's specification, in a slim, rear-ported cabinet approximately 42" high, 8.75" wide, and 10" deep. The speaker presents an 8-ohm nominal impedance, 86 dB/W/m sensitivity, and was originally priced at about $4,500 per pair. Production ran from the mid-1990s until roughly 2005, after which it was discontinued and effectively succeeded in ProAc's range by later designs such as the D25. It is widely praised for its open soundstage, detailed yet smooth treble, lush midrange, and surprisingly deep, authoritative bass for a compact two-way floorstander, making it highly regarded for a wide variety of music genres.
