About the X8

The Pro-Ject X8 is a high-end turntable designed to deliver superior sound quality. It features a heavy, TPE-damped mass-loaded platter precision-lathed from a single piece of aluminum, ensuring smooth rotation and stability. The platter is supported by a ceramic tipped, magnetically supported inverted bearing, which reduces the load on the bearing thanks to a neodymium magnet. The X8 includes a carbon fiber tonearm, often paired with a Sumiko Blue Point No. 3 MC cartridge for optimal sound reproduction. It operates at two speeds: 33 and 45 rpm, with electronic speed change. The turntable is built on a massive MDF chassis, which helps reduce unwanted resonances, and it stands on height-adjustable aluminum/TPE feet that effectively decouple it from the mounting surface. The X8 is known for its precise motor system, which includes a DC/AC generator board and a precision-tuned TPE belt, ensuring stable and clean power delivery to the motor. This setup minimizes vibrations and optimizes performance.
