About the CD Box DS2-T

The Pro-Ject Audio Systems CD Box DS2-T is a dedicated compact CD transport designed to read standard 12 cm Red Book audio CDs and send the resulting PCM/LPCM digital signal to an external DAC, AV processor, or digital amplifier. It uses a Stream Unlimited CD-only drive with Blue Tiger CD-80 servo control, slot loading, and mechanically isolated drive mounting intended to reduce vibration. Unlike the CD Box DS2, the DS2-T is a transport-only model with digital outputs and no analogue audio output or built-in DAC. It provides coaxial S/PDIF, optical TOSlink S/PDIF, and balanced AES/EBU outputs, plus 12 V trigger input and output connections for system control. Manufacturer documentation specifies Red Book CD-DA support; some distributor listings additionally mention CD-R, CD-RW, and Hybrid-SACD media, but the manufacturer’s documentation emphasizes standard Red Book CD-DA and does not specify SACD-layer playback. Availability appears to vary by market: at least one authorized distributor reports that the model is no longer available to order and will not return to stock, while other listings have shown intermittent availability. It should therefore be regarded as discontinued or effectively superseded, although regional stock may still exist.
