About the CD21
The Primare CD21 Compact Disc Player is designed for flawless music reproduction with a focus on high-end performance at a modest price. It uses a DVS 'Ultra Silent' transport mechanism and dual 24-bit Burr-Brown PCM 1738 digital-to-analog converters configured in a balanced topology for THD cancellation. The player offers multiple digital outputs including 75Ω coaxial SPDIF, optical TOSlink, and professional 110Ω AES/EBU XLR, alongside unbalanced stereo RCA analog outputs. It features eight isolated power supplies for digital, analog, and transport circuits to maximize signal purity and dynamic range. The chassis is made from heavy gauge alloy steel for strength, rigidity, and vibration damping, with isolated display and audio circuits to avoid interference. Control is intuitive via six front panel buttons or remote control, and it integrates well with other Primare components, especially the I21 integrated amplifier, allowing unified system control. The CD21 supports firmware upgrades via RS232 and can be integrated into multi-room systems. Dimensions are 430 x 385 x 100 mm, weight approximately 10 kg. It is available in satin black or titanium finishes.
