The PreSonus Sceptre S8 is a high-performance two-way active studio monitor designed for accurate and detailed sound reproduction. It features an 8-inch low/mid-frequency glass-reinforced paper cone driver and a 1-inch horn-loaded diaphragm compression high-frequency driver arranged coaxially with aligned voice coils, utilizing PreSonus' CoActual technology. This design provides a symmetrical soundstage and micro-definition imaging by combining DSP time-correction and point-source speaker design. The monitor is powered by bi-amplified 180W Class D amplification (90W for LF and 90W for HF) with an internal heat sink and power supply. It includes a 32-bit, 96kHz dual-core floating-point DSP processor that applies Temporal Equalization™ with multiple FIR filters for superior clarity and coherence. Acoustic tuning controls allow adjustment of high-frequency driver level, acoustic space compensation, and a high-pass filter for subwoofer integration. Inputs include balanced XLR and TRS connectors with input sensitivity from -10 dBV to +4 dBu. The enclosure is front-ported for extended bass response, and the monitor offers protection features such as RF shielding, current limiting, and over-temperature protection. Physical dimensions are approximately 15.75" height, 11.4" width, 13.3" depth, and it weighs about 24.25 lbs. The frequency response ranges from 46 Hz to 20 kHz (-3 dB) and 38 Hz to 23 kHz (-10 dB), with a crossover frequency at 2.4 kHz and a maximum peak SPL of 116 dB. The Sceptre S8 is suitable for professional studio monitoring, delivering a panoramic soundstage and wide dynamic range with precise transient response and flat frequency response for accurate mixing and mastering.
