The Plinius SA-50 mkIII is a solid-state stereo power amplifier rated at 50 watts per channel into 8 ohms and 100 watts per channel into 4 ohms, with the same power rating whether operated in class A or class AB mode. It features a front-panel switch that allows the user to select pure class A or class AB operation, offering the smoother, more refined character associated with class A along with the higher efficiency and cooler running of class AB. The SA-50 mkIII can also be configured for bridged mono operation, in which a single unit is used as a high-power mono amplifier, a capability consistent with the SA-50 platform's design.
