About the MPD-6 Edelweiss

The Playback Designs MPD-6 Edelweiss is a high-end standalone digital-to-analog converter and digital preamplifier in Playback Designs’ Edelweiss range. It uses a fully differential discrete DAC architecture and proprietary digital processing/clocking, with a digitally controlled analog volume stage that permits direct connection to a power amplifier. It accepts USB, AES/EBU, coaxial S/PDIF, TosLink, and Playback Designs’ proprietary optical PLink inputs, while providing balanced XLR and single-ended RCA analog outputs. An optional internal Stream-X2 module adds network/USB streaming functionality. It is not a disc player; PLink is intended for connection to compatible Playback Designs transports and other components.
