The Pioneer DV-588A is a versatile DVD player released around 2005, designed to play a wide range of disc formats including SACD, DVD-Audio, DivX, MP3, WMA, JPEG still photos, and most recordable DVD formats except DVD-RAM. It features a 24-bit/192kHz compatible DAC for high-resolution audio playback, delivering exceptional dynamic range and detail. The player includes built-in Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1 decoders but is recommended to be used with an AV receiver's decoders for better fine-tuning. It supports multichannel analog audio outputs (5.1 channels) for surround sound, which is essential for SACD and DVD-Audio playback, as digital outputs only transmit CD and DVD audio data. Video outputs include progressive/component, composite, and S-Video. The player uses the MediaTek MT1389EE chipset and Burr-Brown PCM1742K DACs.
