About the PMF-SM2
The Perreaux SM2 is a high-end Class A stereo preamplifier from the 1980s, manufactured by Perreaux in New Zealand. It features discrete circuitry with low distortion, excellent noise performance, and versatile inputs including dedicated phono stages for MC (high gain) and MM (low gain) cartridges, as well as line-level inputs (Aux, etc.). Known for its pure Class A input stages, high slew rate, and precise phase accuracy, it pairs well with Perreaux power amplifiers like the 5150B, 2150B, or PMF 2150B. It is no longer in production and units are available on the used market in varying conditions.
