About the Sona DAC

The sonaDAC is designed as the hub of an all-digital audio system, combining a state-of-the-art DAC, a balanced line-level preamplifier, and a dedicated headphone amplifier. It features the ESS Sabre 9018 Reference DAC chip, supporting ultra-high-resolution audio up to 32-bit/384kHz PCM and 5.6MHz DSD. The unit offers asynchronous USB input for precise digital audio playback from computers, as well as multiple digital inputs including two optical and two coaxial connections. Outputs include both balanced XLR and single-ended RCA, along with a front-panel headphone jack. The design emphasizes short, isolated signal paths and high-quality discrete components for maximum dynamic range and minimal noise. The sonaDAC is equally suited for desktop headphone listening or as the preamp/DAC in a high-end stereo system, especially when paired with the sonaAMP power amplifier.
