About the nova220SE
The nova220SE combines a discrete Class A preamplifier with 220 watts per channel dual mono Class D power amplification, making it powerful enough to drive any loudspeaker with wide dynamic range and low distortion. It includes a 24-bit/192kHz DAC with reclocking to minimize jitter, supporting asynchronous USB, optical, and coaxial digital inputs, plus a pure analog input for turntables or other analog sources. The amplifier features a selectable triode tube buffer to soften bright recordings and create a more natural sound, which can be engaged or bypassed on the fly. The headphone amplifier delivers over 1000mW of power with ultra-low distortion, suitable for high-performance headphones. The nova220SE uses ESS Sabre Hyperstream 9022 DAC technology for high fidelity and jitter rejection. It supports multiple digital inputs including USB (24/192), coaxial S/PDIF (24/192), and two TOSLINK optical inputs (24/96). The power amplifier is based on ICEpower Class D modules in a true dual mono configuration. The unit has a clean, elegant design with five inputs and outputs including stereo analog preamp output, speaker binding posts, and a 6.35mm headphone jack. It is praised for its sonic finesse, dynamic clout, and versatility, making it a benchmark in its class at a sensible price point. An optional BT1 aptX Bluetooth receiver is available for wireless streaming.
