About the SR3-12
The Paul Hynes SR3-12 is a high performance linear power supply designed to provide 12 volts DC at up to 3 amps continuous current, with the ability to deliver short duration transients up to 20 amps. It features a proprietary discrete component regulator optimized for very low noise and wide bandwidth regulation, with an error amplifier noise specification of 0.5 nanovolts root Hz and an operating bandwidth exceeding 100 MHz. The output impedance is typically 3 milliohms from DC to 80 KHz, and the supply line rejection ratio is greater than 80 dB over the same bandwidth, remaining above 50 dB at 1 MHz. The power supply uses an off-the-shelf mains transformer and is housed in a case similar to the earlier SR1 model. It is well-regarded for significantly improving the performance of digital audio sources such as the Squeezebox and Off-Ramp 3 DAC, providing a rich, natural sound with good dynamic headroom. The SR3-12 is often paired with high-quality DC leads terminated for specific equipment connections.
