About the XP32
The Pass Labs XP-32 is a three-piece modular preamplifier consisting of one control/power supply chassis and two additional gain chassis, each containing analog signals of a single channel. It delivers less noise, crosstalk, and distortion while providing greater dynamic range, gain, output voltage, and output current. The XP-32 features a new input circuit based on the Xs series, with lower noise and distortion and greater drive capability. It uses matched pairs of Toshiba FETs on the input and MOSFETs on the output, running a higher class-A bias with auto bias and lower output impedance. The volume control operates in 0.5 dB steps, is quieter and more accurate than its predecessor XP-30. Balanced inputs and outputs use XLR connectors conforming to AES/EBU standards, and single-ended inputs and outputs use RCA connectors. The preamplifier supports bi-amping with independent main and slave outputs per channel. It is highly regarded for its transparency, soundstage focus, and ability to handle complex and loud music passages without irritation or compression. The XP-32 is recommended by Stereophile and The Absolute Sound and is considered a breakthrough instrument in high-end audio preamplification.
