About the Fat Boy Wood Horn
The Parmenter Fat Boy Wood Horn speakers are large, handcrafted two-way horn loudspeakers designed and built in the USA. They feature a 15-inch Altec woofer mounted in an enormously wide front baffle, paired with a massive horn-loaded TAD compression driver (model TD-4001) with Alnico magnets. The speakers are constructed with laminated wood, offering a premium furniture-like finish and exceptional build quality. Each speaker weighs close to 200 kilograms, emphasizing their substantial and purposeful design. The crossover uses high-quality Mundorf Silver components, with plans for even more highly specified crossovers using Dueland components. The system achieves an overall efficiency of approximately 102 dB. These speakers are known for incredible resolution, dynamics, deep and tight bass, and pinpoint imaging, delivering a highly realistic and unrestrained musical experience. The Fat Boy Wood Horns have been used in high-end reference systems with Pass Laboratories amplification and TAD drivers, praised for their presence, detail, scale, and power handling. The speakers are discontinued but remain highly regarded in audiophile circles.
