About the JC 3+
The Parasound JC 3+ is a dedicated, solid-state phono preamplifier designed by John Curl. It uses a dual-mono, all-analog architecture with precision RIAA equalization, discrete Class A input stages, and separately adjustable loading for moving-magnet and moving-coil cartridges. The unit accepts MM cartridges at 47 kΩ and MC cartridges at either fixed 47 kΩ or independently adjustable 50–550 Ω loading. It provides unbalanced RCA input and output connections, balanced XLR outputs, a mono switch for mono records, a ground terminal, and an optional 12 V trigger connection. Compared with the original JC 3, the JC 3+ includes revised phono circuitry, a larger R-core power transformer, larger power-supply filter capacitors, and improved MC signal-to-noise performance.
